2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5 Canadian Pricing is Announced

Hyundai Canada has confirmed that the starting price of its new all-electric IONIQ 5 will have a Manufacturer's Suggested MSRP (MSRP) of $44,999. The IONIQ 5 is eligible for both provincial and federal programs designed to encourage Canadian motorists to switch to an electric vehicle.

For example, in Québec, IONIQ 5 buyers will benefit from an incentive of $5,000 from Ottawa and $8,000 from the provincial government. In British Columbia, buyers will get $5,000 from Ottawa and $3,000 from the provincial government.

The base Essential model will be equipped with a 58 kWh battery, allowing an advertised range of 354 kilometres. To get the full range of 480 kilometres (77.4 kWh battery), you’ll have to opt for the Preferred Long Range version, whose advertised price is $51,999.

The AWD variant starts at $54,999 and remains eligible for full grants in Québec. With this twin-motor model, Hyundai promises a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 5.2 seconds!

About the 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5

With the IONIQ 5, Hyundai wants to compete with models like the Volkswagen ID.4, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Tesla Model Y and others. The vehicle will share its platform and battery configuration with the Kia EV6 and Genesis GV60.

Despite its hatchback appearance, the IONIQ 5 is marketed as a small utility vehicle in North America. It's a bit far-fetched, but it's worth pointing out that this model is much bigger than it looks. Its wheelbase is three metres longer than that of Hyundai's largest SUV, the Palisade.

The interior is fully digital, with two large screens in the dashboard. It also offers plenty of space for passengers, namely thanks to a flat floor which allows you to move freely inside the vehicle.

PThe IONIQ 5 can be plugged to a 350 kW fast-charger, which can recharge the battery from 10% to 80% charge in just 18 minutes. It will also be possible to power electrical devices using energy from the vehicle's battery thanks to V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) technology.

The first units of the 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5 will arrive in Canada in December 2021, and Hyundai points out that more than 2,000 Canadians have already reserved an example of the IONIQ 5.
