World’s Fastest Three-Wheeler, Built in Canada, Makes Official Debut

Published on December 21, 2021 in News by Guillaume Rivard

Remember the Daymak Spiritus? We told you about this Canadian-designed electric three-wheeler back in March when the Toronto-based company announced a crowdfunding campaign to build the first prototypes.

The official unveiling took place yesterday—not at York University as was initially planned, but rather via YouTube due to the rise in COVID-19 cases in Ontario.

“This car has been a dream in the making, and I am elated to finally be able to show it,” remarked Aldo Baiocchi, President of Daymak. “It is very exciting to see the first prototype being ready for the road, with five more currently being built as we expand the Daymak Team to get to the next level. We want to thank all our shareholders, everyone who pre-ordered a vehicle, and everyone who supported us.”

Daymak’s goal is to locally build 50,000 Spiritus three-wheelers in the upcoming years in Ontario, creating hundreds of jobs. The company is finalizing its blueprint for a 425,000-square foot plant where all the Avvenire products will be built.

So far, more than 26,000 Spiritus reservations have been made. Development and testing will continue in 2022 and early 2023 ahead of the start of deliveries in September 2023.

Electrifying Performance

The Daymak Spiritus is a two-seat vehicle similar to the Polaris Slingshot, except with a closed cabin. It boasts an extremely low ride height, maximum weight of just 1,370 pounds and kart-like handling. There are solar panels for trickle charging, a regeneration system and Daymak’s own patent-pending wireless charger.

Two different models are available. The Deluxe starts at $22,995 USD and boasts a 36-kWh battery offering a range of 290 kilometres. It also generates nearly 100 horsepower.

If you have a ton of money to spend and a giant need for speed, the Ultimate at $149,000 USD is twice as powerful and can travel up to 480 kilometres thanks to an 80-kWh battery. This lightning-quick model accelerates from 0-97 km/h in a blistering 1.8 seconds—quicker even than the future Tesla Roadster and its 1,000+ horses.

Standard equipment includes scissor doors, smart and remote start, Bluetooth integration, an alarm system and even crypto mining functionality. The Ultimate model adds a carbon fibre body, a display for the passenger, and the scissor doors operate automatically. A kick-ass entertainment system and a rear-view camera are available, too.

The Spiritus is part of Daymak’s Avvenire series, which will also feature a lightweight, enclosed ATV called Aspero and a high-performance, flight-capable EV called Skyrider.
