All-Electric Mercedes-Benz EQB Priced in the Middle of the Pack

Mercedes-Benz’s first-ever electric SUV for the Canadian market, the all-new EQB, will arrive in Canadian dealerships this fall and we finally know how much it will cost.

Available in a single model, namely the EQB 350 4MATIC, it will start at $75,700 plus freight and dealer fees. No EV rebates will apply, as we suspected.

Looking at the competition, the Mercedes-Benz EQB is more expensive than the Audi Q4 e-tron, Cadillac Lyriq and Volvo C40 Recharge, but cheaper than the Audi e-tron, BMW iX, Jaguar I-PACE and Tesla Model Y.

Seating for Seven

Despite its compact dimensions (similar to the gas-powered GLB’s), this SUV stands out with an optional seven-seat configuration. Customers also get one year of complimentary charging via Mercedes me Charge, which provides access to EV chargers from various providers and offers an integrated payment function with simple billing processes.

As for other key numbers, the EQB 350 4MATIC generates 288 hp and has a usable energy content of 66.5 kWh. The estimated range according to the WLTP standard is 419 km, so expect anywhere between 350-400 km when Natural Resources Canada posts its official rating.

By the way, an 11-kW charger is included in the EQB. Using a DC fast charger (maximum 100 kW), it takes just over 30 minutes to go from 10-80 percent state of charge.

Sharp and Smart

Standard equipment highlights for the EQB include the new-generation MBUX multimedia system with augmented reality navigation powering the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.25-inch centre touchscreen. The nav system with Electric Intelligence has the ability to set the ideal route and adjust it in real time in order to maximize range, which is quite convenient.

Certain safety features such as the Active Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and Active Brake Assist are also equipped as standard. A Premium Package, Sport Package, Night Package and Intelligent Drive Package are available for those who want more style and technology.
