2023 Maserati Grecale Makes Canadian Debut Ahead of Deliveries This Fall
Following its global reveal in March, the all-new 2023 Maserati Grecale made its first appearance in Canada this week at a Maserati dealership in Laval, Quebec.
The Car Guide was among the media and other VIP guests on hand for the event. Here’s a closer look at this sleek crossover from Italy.

Levante’s Little Brother
Maserati wanted to grow its presence in the luxury SUV segment, so it came up with a compact model that is smaller than the Levante and directly aimed at the Porsche Macan. The Grecale, named after a Mediterranean wind, rides on the same platform as the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Alfa Romeo Stelvio.
The lineup includes three trim levels—GT, Modena and Trofeo—and all of them were represented at the event. The base GT starts at $75,200 plus $2,200 freight and PDI. It features a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 48V mild hybrid technology. Output is rated at 296 horsepower.
In Modena trim, the same engine delivers 325 horsepower, but torque is unchanged at 332 pound-feet in both cases.
Finally, the top-line Grecale Trofeo gets a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 derived from the spectacular MC20 coupe. This one generates 523 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque, allowing 0-100 km/h sprints in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 285 km/h.
By the way, all models use an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive.
Lots of Tech Inside
Open the doors of the 2023 Maserati Grecale and you’ll find a 12.3-inch centre touchscreen with a secondary 8.8-inch screen below for extra controls. Maserati’s famous watch is now all-digital, just like the 12.3-inch instrument cluster, and a head-up display is available. It’s all very impressive from the driver’s perspective.
There’s no electrified variant for now, but that will change next year when the Grecale Folgore (“lightning” in Italian) arrives as Maserati’s first fully electric vehicle. Again, this model is expected to butt heads with the Porsche Macan EV (whose launch has recently been pushed back a year).
