Toyota, Lexus Extend Connected Services Trials to 10 Years
Connected services in cars and via mobile apps are rapidly spreading across the auto industry. Many customers love them—until the free trials end and they have to start paying monthly fees to keep using these services.
Good news if you plan to buy a new Toyota or Lexus: the automaker is extending the trial period of Safety Connect and Service Connect up to 10 years on several 2023 models.

Safety Connect includes 24-hour emergency assistance, 24-hour enhanced roadside assistance, automatic collision notification and stolen vehicle locator.
Meanwhile, Service Connect is like a diagnostic tool providing important information about the vehicle, such as recall and service campaigns, vehicle warnings and alerts, as well as maintenance information, either via the mobile app or by email. Alerts can be shared with a preferred dealer that will contact you when service is required.
Specifically, today’s announcement applies to select 2023 Toyota and Lexus vehicles equipped with the new-generation Toyota Multimedia System or Lexus Interface:
- Toyota Corolla and Corolla Hatchback (including GR Corolla)
- Toyota Corolla Cross
- Toyota Crown
- Toyota Highlander
- Toyota RAV4
- Toyota Sequoia
- Toyota Tundra
- Toyota Venza
- Lexus ES
- Lexus NX
- Lexus LS
- Lexus LX
- Lexus RX
- Lexus RZ
- Lexus UX
The 2022 Toyota Tundra, Lexus NX and LX will also receive extended trial periods for Safety Connect and Service Connect at no extra cost (less the in-service date).
The automaker says that both Safety Connect and Service Connect can remain free after 10 years provided customers subscribe to at least another service, whether it’s Remote Connect at $9.95/month (starting the engine, locking and unlocking the doors, monitoring guest drivers, locating the vehicle, and more) or Drive Connect at $19.95/month (cloud-based navigation with Destination Assist and Intelligent Assistant).
