2023 Kia Telluride Arrives in Canada, Rugged but Pricey X-Pro Trim Included
Unveiled at the 2022 New York Auto Show last spring, the 2023 Kia Telluride benefits from an extensive mid-cycle update that includes a new face and wheels, state-of-the-art digital interface combining two 12.3-inch displays, more tech and safety features, as well as a pair of rugged new models.
Earlier this week, Kia announced pricing details for Canada, and just as we suspected the Telluride has gotten significantly more expensive.

From $46,995 in 2022, the base MSRP for the entry-level EX model is now increased to $49,995, five bucks below a major psychological barrier for many potential customers. Of course, don’t forget to add the $2,499 freight and PDI charge.
Similar hikes of $3,000 affect the Telluride SX and SX Limited, which now start at $54,995 and $58,995, respectively. Available content includes a digital rear-view mirror and the ability to turn your iPhone into a key for unlocking the doors and starting the engine—two Kia firsts.
X Marks the Spot
Another important change for 2023 is the addition of an X-Line model replacing the Nightfall Edition. Similar to the Sportage X-Line and Sorento X-Line, this new Telluride features a distinctive grille, bridge-type roof rails and unique 20-inch wheels, as well as “X-Line” badging inside and out.
Higher ground clearance (+10mm), improved approach and departure angles, a Tow mode for optimized trailering performance and upgraded traction control system should please drivers looking for a bit of off-road fun or needing to tow heavy loads. The price? Prepare to pay at least $60,995.
But wait, there’s more. While we initially believed the more rugged Telluride X-Pro would be sold in the U.S. only, it turns out that Canada has not been overlooked. This one carries a tag of $62,595.
What do you get for the extra money? Exclusive 18-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, a 120V power source in the cargo area and two new interior colour options including Terracotta Brown and Sage Green, that’s what. Oh, and maximum towing capacity is increased to 5,500 pounds.
Despite the higher prices, the 2023 Kia Telluride—along with the closely related Hyundai Palisade, which also gets a mid-cycle update for 2023—is still the Best Buy in the three-row midsize SUV segment according to The Car Guide. That makes it three years in a row, in fact.
Offering generous interior space, a long list of features and pleasant handling, the Telluride is a well-rounded SUV. Let’s not forget the 291-horsepower V6 under the hood, which is a strong yet flexible performer, and a lot smoother than some turbocharged four-cylinder engines found in the competition.
