2023 Vancouver Auto Show Scrapped Due to Too Many No-Shows

The Vancouver International Auto Show, which was supposed to return from March 22-26, 2023, has been cancelled once again.

For the fourth straight year, the latest new models from the auto industry will not be present at the Vancouver Convention Centre West. This time, though, COVID-19 is not to blame.

“For the last several months, we have been working with vehicle manufacturers and other partners in anticipation of returning in-person to celebrate the 100th edition in the traditional auto show in March,” said Blair Qualey, president and CEO of the New Car Dealers Association of B.C. “Unfortunately, ongoing global supply chain issues mean that a number of manufacturers and distributors are not in a position to commit to participating in many North American auto shows, including Vancouver.”

Obviously, with so many no-shows, hosting a quality auto show became an impossible challenge to overcome. That being said, organizers are still leaving the door open for a different type of in-person event next year. More details are expected to be shared in the coming weeks.

Today’s news comes just a couple of weeks after the 2023 Calgary Auto Show was cancelled. The event was supposed to take place from March 8-12 at BMO Centre at Stampede Park. There won’t be a show in Ottawa, either.

As previously reported, the 2023 Montreal International Auto Show is still a go, however. Nearly 20 car brands have confirmed they will be on hand at Palais des Congrès from January 20-29.

The 2023 Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, meanwhile, is scheduled to run from February 17-26 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
