BMW Announces Limited M Performance Edition Only for Canada

Published on January 9, 2023 in News by Guillaume Rivard

BMW has some good news for fans of the 4 Series Coupe: an M Performance Edition of the M440i xDrive model is coming to Canada. The bad news? Only 100 units are available.

The most striking element is arguably the exclusive colour combinations, which are limited to 20 units each. All five colours—Voodoo Blue, Velvet Blue, Rosso Corsa, Irish Green and Grigio Telesto—have been selected from the German automaker’s Individual Manufaktur portfolio and are only available by special order.

Depending on the body colour, the wheels will have either a Matte Black finish or a Ferric Grey finish, while the Merino leather interior will be Black, Tartufo (brown) or Fjord Blue/Black.

Next, the special edition features a bunch of M Performance parts including the unique 20-inch wheels, sport exhaust, front lip spoiler and rear spoiler in carbon fibre, dual-kidney grille with carbon fibre surround and black mesh, and gloss black model badge.

The engine is the same turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder that produces 382 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, sending the M440i xDrive from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. It is mated to an eight-speed sport automatic transmission with launch control and rear M Sport differential which helps improve traction by equalizing drive torque between the left and right rear wheels under acceleration.

What’s more, each M Performance Edition is equipped with the Premium Enhanced Package, Digital Cockpit Professional, Carbon Fibre Interior Trim, BMW M 50 Years emblems and Gloss Black Exterior Contents. Oh, there’s also the M Technology Package, which includes larger 374mm front brake dics (+26 mm) and a dedicated engine oil cooler for additional performance. BMW Laserlight headlights are available as optional equipment.

The 2023 BMW M440i xDrive M Performance Edition will be available in Canadian dealerships later this month for a base MSRP of $89,950. That’s significantly higher than the standard price of $67,400 for this particular coupe, and even a tad more expensive than the 473-horsepower BMW M4 with rear-wheel drive and six-speed manual transmission ($89,500).
