2023 Dodge Hornet Pricing Details Announced for Canada
The all-new 2023 Dodge Hornet that was unveiled last summer is now on sale in Canada and we can tell you more about pricing and content.
Remember, this compact SUV is based on the same platform as the Alfa Romeo Tonale yet features signature Dodge styling in a more affordable package.

GT and GT Plus
The lineup starts with the base Hornet GT at $40,190 including freight and PDI. That is more expensive than the competition, of course, but the turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine under the hood delivers a healthy 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Dodge, after all, is obsessed with muscle and performance. Premium gasoline is therefore recommended. Alas, official fuel consumption ratings are not available yet.
Equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive, the Hornet sprints from 0-97 km/h in 6.5 seconds. It can also tow up to 907 kilograms (2,000 pounds).
Full LED lighting and a selection of seven body colours highlight the exterior. Hot Tamale (red) and Acapulco Gold (yellow) are particularly eye-catching options, the latter costing an extra $475. The standard wheels are just 17 inches in size, but 18- and 20-inch alloys can be ordered.
Inside, look for a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, 10.25-inch centre touchscreen with Uconnect 5 infotainment and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Advanced safety and driver assistance features include automatic emergency braking and blind spot monitoring.
No heated steering wheel or heated seats come standard here, which is a huge mistake in the Canadian market. The former is optional, though. You can get them by moving up to the GT Plus model at $46,190, which also adds perforated leather seats with power adjustments, a power sunroof, navigation, wireless charging and Harman Kardon audio.
Other optional features include a sport steering wheel, red-painted brake callipers, remote start, as well as Technology, Blacktop, Track and Cold Weather packages.
PHEV Coming Later
What about the Dodge Hornet R/T, which is the model blessed with a plug-in hybrid powertrain? This one will launch a bit later in 2023, and we’ll update this story as soon as pricing is announced.
Will it qualify for the full $5,000 iZEV rebate from the federal government? That depends whether or not the 15kWh battery does indeed enable 50 km of zero-emission driving as Dodge estimates. Otherwise, the rebate will be slashed in half. Once again, we’re waiting for Natural Resources Canada to post the official rating.
The Hornet R/T pairs a turbocharged 1.3-litre four-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic transmission and is assisted by a 90kW electric motor. This setup delivers 285 horsepower and an impressive 383 pound-feet of torque. A PowerShot function provides a boost of 25 horsepower on demand. It takes only 6.2 seconds to reach 97 km/h.
