2011 Lotus Elise Inherits Evora Cues

Published on February 21, 2010 in Geneva by Dan Fritter

For the first time in decades, Lotus has a complete lineup of automobiles. Since the Esprit departed, the brand had been relying on the Elise and Exige models to carry the torch until the Evora’s debut this year.

And as is often the case, Lotus wants to unify their new lineup’s appearances. So, it’s no coincidence that the 2011 Lotus Elise bears a striking resemblance to its larger 2+2 brother. With a new lower nose, reworked and streamlined headlamps, a larger grill (itself a feature that would look at home on the bow of most Ferrari’s), and larger side vents, it’s sleeker looking and slipperier to boot; by 4%, to be precise. Under the reworked engine cover, the same 1.8L four cylinder remains as the standard powertrain, although two new lightweight wheel options should improve upon the 2010 model slightly.
