2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and 392: The Rubicon's 20th Anniversary

Published on February 9, 2023 in Chicago by Germain Goyer

2023 marks the 20th anniversary of the Wrangler Rubicon. For the occasion, Jeep will release two commemorative editions of the most opposite versions of its lineup: 4xe and 392. The automaker took the stage at the Chicago Auto Show to unveil them, and The Car Guide was on site at McCormick Place to cover the event. The Rubicon name was first used in 2003 to identify a version of the Wrangler TJ.

Decals and a Toolbox

Jeep didn't reinvent the wheel for these new special editions. Mechanically, the Wrangler 4xe and 392 remain unchanged. However, Jeep says it has slightly revamped the famous seven-slot grille and the suspension gets a half-inch lift. As you can see from the photos, they are decorated with decals celebrating the 20th anniversary; blue decals for the 4xe version and gold for the 392 version.

These Wrangler 4xe and 392 models also feature a plaque on the tailgate and a special medallion on the gearshift. They are equipped with 17-inch beadlock wheels, a Gorilla windshield and steel bumpers. The 4xe is fitted with 33-inch BFGoodrich KO2 tires. The 392 variant gets the same rubber, but the size increases to 35 inches.

Gearheads will be pleased to know that both models come with a toolbox that includes no less than 83 pieces. The Wrangler Rubicon 392 20th Anniversary edition also gets a Mopar-designed, factory-installed, on-board air compressor.
