2024 Subaru Crosstrek: Five Things to Know
The third generation of the Subaru Crosstrek is coming! This highly popular subcompact SUV gets an updated exterior and interior design and a new, stiffer chassis.

Evolving Aesthetics
In terms of design, the new Crosstrek retains essentially the same shape, but gets a few tweaks and improvements. Since it tries to project an adventurous identity, its frameless hexagonal grille, more aggressive headlights and black protective stripes on the wheel arches adopt the design language.
The SUV keeps its 220 mm ground clearance, ideal for snowy climates. In addition, according to Subaru, several aerodynamic changes contribute to the SUV's stability and performance.
For example, outlets on the front wheel arches allow for better air evacuation, and two more placed on either side of the rear bumper help reduce drag.
The Manual Transmission Disappears from the Catalogue
The Convenience and Touring versions are powered by a 2.0-litre flat-four engine. It produces 152 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. The premium variants - Onyx and Limited - use a larger displacement 2.5-litre engine that produces 182 horsepower and 178 lb-ft. All-wheel drive with X-MODE - which limits speed on steep descents and maximizes traction control on slippery surfaces - comes standard. Many will be disappointed to learn that the manual transmission is no longer on the menu. Only the Lineartronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) is offered. As for the Crosstrek PHEV, it won't be back for 2024.
An Updated Interior
The interior has been aesthetically enhanced, but it's also quieter than before according to Subaru. The climate control system has been updated to focus on occupied seats, not the entire cabin. The centre console incorporates a multimedia system with two 7-inch screens or an optional single 11.6-inch screen that provides wireless access to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as what3words (W3W) navigation. SUBARU STARLINK connected services and cell phone inductive charging are also available.
Enhanced Safety
The platform on which the Crosstrek sits is stronger in torsional strength by 10%. In addition, it uses stronger welds and additional adhesives allowing for greater rigidity and weight reduction, according to Subaru. Otherwise, all Crosstreks are equipped with the latest generation of the EyeSight driver assistance technology. Automatic braking in the event of a potential reverse collision, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and lane tracking are among the on-board features.
More Expensive
The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek’s price jumped by $4,000 compared to the 2023 model. It comes in four trim levels: Convenience ($28,995), Touring ($32,195), Onyx ($33,995) and Limited ($36,995). Note that all prices are MSRPs. The vehicle will arrive in dealerships in late spring. As for the more rugged Crosstrek Wilderness, it will land in the fall with a base MSRP of $37,995.
