2024 Kia EV9 Shows Concept-Like Styling Ahead of Imminent Reveal

Later this year, Kia will launch a brand new three-row electric SUV based on the EV9 Concept that made its debut at the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show. The production model will be unveiled in a global premiere on March 14 at 5 p.m. EST.

Someone caught the vehicle on the road a few days ago and shared a video on Instagram, and from that we know that the exterior design is largely unchanged, which is awesome.

Today, Kia released a short teaser that reveals part of the EV9. The clip is purposely dark but we still get a good picture:

Similar to the concept, the massive L-shaped daytime running lights are accompanied by a bunch of smaller L-shaped lights that point toward the middle of the front grille. Based on the video, these look to be part of an adaptive lighting system or some sort of animated welcome sequence.

The side view shows a very boxy silhouette once again, with flush-mounted handles on the doors. Unsurprisingly, the rear-facing cameras have been replaced by conventional mirrors. Though we can’t see the wheels, we bet they’re not as spectacular as the concept’s.

In the rear, the unique taillights stretch mostly vertically while also deviating toward the centre of the liftgate, where a large Kia logo is affixed.

Positioned above the EV6, the new 2024 Kia EV9 will offer more interior space and versatility for families as well as superior all-terrain capabilities. Despite riding on the same e-GMP platform, we’d be shocked if RWD models were available in Canada, even though AWD limits maximum range. Expect something around 400 km.

The Car Guide’s Gabriel Gélinas will have all the details about the EV9 (save for pricing) and lots of pictures to share immediately following the debut on March 14, so watch this space.
