Nissan Teases Upcoming Z NISMO in Hot Drifting Video

The all-new Nissan Z is quite potent and fun, but if you’re looking for something with a little more power, more bite and more character, you just have to be a little more patient. That’s right: a Z NISMO is coming soon!

The automaker today posted a 44-second teaser on YouTube to announce the car and show what it’s capable of on a track, in this case with three-time Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg behind the wheel.

As far as styling goes, the Nissan Z NISMO stands out with a unique front fascia (featuring a wider, lower and less rectangular grille), side skirts and rear diffuser, all of which are accented with red stripes. The gloss black nine-spoke alloy wheels are wrapped in Dunlop SP Sport Maxx performance tires.

The clip seems to show revised fenders and rear spoiler. Naturally, NISMO badges can be found on the body, and a NISMO logo is embroidered on the integrated headrests of the new black and red Recaro sport seats. A NISMO animation at start-up complete with model-specific instrument cluster graphics are also in the mix.

While we can briefly see the twin-turbocharged V6 under the hood, it’s anybody’s guess at this point how much output is increased. Maybe 430 horsepower? More? Oh, and you can count on the nine-speed autobox to be available along with a limited-slip differential. Sadly, it appears the six-speed manual transmission will not be offered.

It’s pretty much certain that suspension and braking upgrades are part of the package, too.

Nissan promises to tell more later this summer, which is when we expect the reveal to take place. Don’t miss it. By the way, the Z NISMO will likely be sold in Canada as a 2024 model.
