BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce to Gain Access to Tesla’s Superchargers, Too
It’s now BMW Group’s turn to partner with Tesla to give its customers access to designated Superchargers across North America, effective early 2025.
Owners of vehicles equipped with a Combined Charging System (CCS) connector will receive an adapter enabling them to plug into Tesla’s fast chargers. This includes the BMW i4, i5, i7 and iX, as well as the MINI Cooper SE and Rolls-Royce Spectre.

Sometime in 2025, the automaker will also adopt the North American Charging Standard (NACS) for its EVs in the U.S. and Canada, eliminating the need for said adapter.
BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce will work with Tesla in the coming months to help drivers easily find and access available Superchargers on their vehicle’s display or mobile app while also facilitating payments.
Ford, GM, Rivian, Volvo, Polestar, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Infiniti, Honda, Acura, Hyundai, Genesis and Kia have all made similar announcements in the past few months, looking to capitalize on Tesla’s renowned charging technology, which lead the industry in terms of dependability and user satisfaction according to a recent J.D. Power study.
At the same time, BMW and six other major automakers have joined forces to develop a new fast-charging network in North America by 2030. The plan is to offer at least 30,000 fast chargers across the continent, accessible to all battery-powered EVs from any automaker using the CCS or NACS.
The first stations are expected to open in the U.S. in the summer of 2024 and in Canada at a later stage. Critically, the joint venture intends to power the charging network solely by renewable energy.
