Is This What the 2035 Subaru WRX Will Look Like?
What will Subaru’s sports cars look like in the future? Will the BRZ and WRX stick around? Is the WRX STi ever going to come back? Time will give us some answers, but for now, the company is offering a sort of preview with the Sport Mobility Concept unveiled at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo.
In a way, what you’re seeing here is a modern interpretation of the old Subaru SVX. It obviously sports a much boxier, taller and more muscular body, as if it was prepping for a rally. Styling is questionable and won’t win any contest, but we applaud the effort, especially from an automaker that’s not known for its bold designs.

While the missing grille up front hints at the electric powertrain under the metal, there’s still a large air intake that provides cooling. From what we can tell, no frunk is included. In the rear, a super-short deck combines with a two-piece bumper for a flat yet powerful appearance.
Subaru didn’t say anything about specs including power, battery size, range and more. All we know is that the car features all-wheel drive. Likewise, the interior remains a mystery. Similar to other vehicles from the Japanese brand, visibility looks excellent.
Don’t hold your breath, as they say. This Sport Mobility Concept is more of a design study than a serious project intended for production in the near future. And for those of you interested in flying cars, Subaru also showed an Air Mobility Concept that may or may not take you to the sky some day. You’ll find it in the photo gallery at the top of the page.
