Kia Carnival to Get More High-Tech Look for 2025

Published on October 27, 2023 in News by Guillaume Rivard

Just like it did with the K5 midsize sedan yesterday, Kia today showed the design of its updated Carnival minivan for the Korean market. The Sedona replacement is indeed due for a mid-cycle refresh, and we’ll see it in Canada next year as a 2025 model.

While it may not offer an AWD or hybrid option like a couple of rivals, the Carnival manages to stand out with a more robust, SUV-like stance and appearance. Now, it’s on the receiving end of some fancy tweaks giving it a high-tech look. Check out the fully redesigned headlights and daytime running lights (the latter are pretty sharp) or the revised front grille featuring a wider mesh.

Unsurprisingly, the wheels sport a new design, too, including some with attractive geometric patterns. Designers have wisely kept the roof rails adding versatility to the Carnival. In the rear, the bumper and liftgate are slightly redesigned, while the taillights get a similar treatment to the headlights.

Kia mentioned a new trim level called Gravity that brings a darker exterior, but whether or not this will be part of the Canadian lineup has yet to be determined.

Unfortunately, no pictures of the interior were released. It’s fairly easy to guess what’s coming, though, including a pair of 12.3-inch displays forming a single, curved interface, as well as a new HVAC control panel below—similar to other recent Kia products. We also expect to see a new gear selector and updated trim options.

The 3.5-litre V6 under the hood won’t change, that’s for sure. Producing 290 horsepower and 262 lb-ft. of torque, it’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and achieves a combined 10.6 L/100 km.

Look for more information and pictures of the 2025 Kia Carnival to be shared in the coming months. Pricing will inevitably increase, but should remain competitive in the minivan segment.
