Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche to Adopt Tesla’s NACS Connector
Volkswagen is the latest automaker to reach a deal with Tesla to gain access to some 15,000 Superchargers in Canada and the U.S.
Customers driving a Volkswagen, Audi or Porsche electric vehicle equipped with a CCS (Combined Charging System) charging port will be offered an adaptor in order to plug into Superchargers, though it’s not immediately clear when exactly.

Starting in 2025, future EVs from the German automaker, including those from its upcoming Scout brand, will incorporate Tesla’s NACS (North American Charging Standard) connector into their design, eliminating the need for an adaptor. Details about specific models will follow as the launch date of 2025 nears.
Volkswagen is also behind the Electrify America and Electrify Canada charging networks, which currently operate more than 3,800 fast chargers across the continent. Both will work to offer the NACS connector at charging stations by 2025, as well as continuing to support CCS.
Earlier this year, Ford, GM, Rivian, Volvo, Polestar, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Infiniti, Honda, Acura, Hyundai, Genesis, Kia, BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce, Subaru, Toyota and Lexus all made similar announcements, looking to capitalize on Tesla’s renowned charging technology, which leads the industry in terms of dependability and user satisfaction according to a recent J.D. Power study.
Stellantis (Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, Dodge, Alfa Romeo, Fiat) is now the only major automaker that has not yet reached a deal with Tesla.
