2025 Lexus UX 300h Gets Prius Tech, More Power and Safety

Lexus’ subcompact hybrid crossover has received an update every other year since its debut in 2019 and the trend will continue for 2025.

From that point on, the vehicle will be called UX 300h and use Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid system, just like the new Prius, which means combined output from the 2.0-litre gas engine and dual electric motors will increase to 196 horsepower. That’s 15 horsepower more than the current UX 250h.

According to Lexus, 0-100 km/h acceleration is improved from 9.1 seconds to about 8 seconds in AWD configuration, which is the only one we have in Canada now. A FWD variant is also available in the U.S.

A compact and lightweight lithium-ion battery replaces the previous system’s nickel-metal hydride battery, while new shift-by-wire technology converts shift operations into electrical signals. With no mechanical connections, the setup helps enable a quicker and more seamless shifting experience, the company claims. As for fuel consumption, look for a combined rating of 5.8 L/100 km—two tenths better than the UX 250h.

Other notable changes for 2025 include a new Copper Crest body colour, a new layout of buttons on the door panels and a larger 12.3-inch digital display adorning the instrument cluster. The centre touchscreen is still 8 inches or 12.3 inches depending on the trim level.

One last item we need to cover is the Lexus Safety System+, which improves from version 2.5 to 3.0—the most comprehensive suite the company has to offer. Additional features include Risk Avoidance Emergency Steer Assist and Left Turn Oncoming Vehicle Detection/Braking.

Good news: Pricing for the 2025 Lexus UX 300h stays largely put, ranging from $43,605-$51,344 (MSRP).
