Hyundai Unveils New Santa Fe NHL Edition Only for Canada

Published on January 18, 2024 in Montreal by Guillaume Rivard

Arguably one of the most anticipated new vehicles on the road this year, the next-generation 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe continues to make headlines, but it’s not about the polarizing design this time. If you love hockey, you need to check this out.

Hyundai today announced the addition of a Canadian-exclusive NHL Edition for the Santa Fe. Former NHL player and Montreal Canadiens icon Yvan Cournoyer was even part of the reveal on media day at the 2024 Montreal Auto Show.

Only 500 units will be available, offering a model-specific Creamy White matte exterior colour (we’d actually prefer a glossy finish similar to a hockey rink) along with 20-inch, multi-spoke black alloy wheels. Further differentiation comes from the personalized Luxwood door sills, as well as WeatherTech floor and cargo liners featuring the team logo of the customer’s choosing. That's cool.

“True fans of professional hockey teams appreciate new ways of showing their support. We hope hockey drivers across Canada—and their passengers—will enjoy representing their loyalty to their favourite team every time they go for a ride in the Santa Fe NHL Edition,” said Steve Flamand, director of product, corporate and digital strategy at Hyundai Canada.

Since the Santa Fe NHL Edition is based on the top-line Ultimate Calligraphy model, customers can expect many high-end features such as a dual wireless charging system and a curved panoramic display combining a 12.3-inch information cluster with a similarly sized infotainment touchscreen. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility is also included.

There’s a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system, as well, and the three-row interior is finished in Pecan brown with Nappa leather exclusively.

One last thing: unlike the regular Ultimate Calligraphy model, which uses a turbocharged 2.5-litre engine (277 hp, 311 lb-ft of torque), the NHL Edition relies on a hybrid powertrain generating a combined 232 hp and 271 lb-ft. A six-speed automatic transmission and HTRAC all-wheel drive system with multi-terrain selector (Snow, Mud, Sand) control power delivery.

Pricing for the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe will be announced closer to launch in March. In the meantime, don’t miss our first-drive review that we posted last November during a trip to South Korea.

Following its first public appearance in Montreal from January 19-27, the Santa Fe NHL Edition will be presented at the 2024 Hyundai NHL Fan Fair at the Metro Toronto Convention Center South Building from February 1-4 during the NHL All-Star Weekend. It will reappear later at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto from February 16-25.
