Raise your hand and pat yourself on the back if you saw this coming: despite many car companies opting not to participate in various events across North America, the 2024 Canadian International AutoShow (CIAS) wrapped on Sunday with a new attendance record.

That’s right, 371,559 people visited the Metro Toronto Convention Centre over the past 11 days (including Media Day and the VIP Night), breaking the previous record of 357,745 set five years ago, before the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year’s edition of the CIAS started strong with a record 22,628 people for an opening day. Other single-day attendance records were also set on February 20, 21 and 24.

“With so many new brands adding to the roster of presenting manufacturers this year, an expanded indoor and outdoor test drive program, and a diverse and well-presented series of features, the consumers came out in force,” General Manager Jason Campbell said in a statement.

A total of 44 brands showed up, way more than the 28 of last year. Ford and Infiniti, as well as smaller companies including Fisker, Rivian and Lotus, were on hand. Even Rimac came to Toronto to display its breathtaking and electrifying Nevera hypercar. Visitors also enjoyed the indoor EV test track—the largest in Canada—featuring over 25 models, twice the number of 2023.
