New Tesla Roadster to Debut in 2024, Ship in 2025, Musk Now Says
Now that the Model 3 has finally been updated, and that the first Cybertrucks and Semis are on the road, Tesla can spend more time focusing on future vehicles.
Company boss Elon Musk wrote on his X account in the past few hours that the production model of the new Tesla Roadster will be completed and unveiled later this year, with Tesla aiming to ship the first units in 2025. Should we believe him this time?

I think it has a shot at being the most mind-blowing product demo of all time

Musk initially announced the new Roadster in late 2017, with the car supposed to hit the market in 2020. In 2021, amid the global pandemic and supply chain disruptions, he postponed the launch to 2023. Musk again pushed it back last year.
In another post on X, the controversial CEO wrote that “there will never be another car like this, if you could even call it a car.” Maybe a rocket would be more appropriate. Musk says Tesla has “radically increased the design goals” for the new Roadster and is collaborating with SpaceX to deliver unprecedented acceleration and performance.
His latest claim? How about 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) sprints in less than one second?

And that is the least interesting part
Musk hinted at an optional “SpaceX Package” that would add about 10 rocket thrusters to the car. We even showed you a simulation of what that could be like in a story we published three years ago. We can’t wait to see the real deal.
As for the design, the production Tesla Roadster should look similar to the concept pictured at the top of the page, which made an appearance during the inauguration of the new gigafactory in Austin, Texas, in April 2022.
Oh, and by the way, you can still reserve a copy of the new Roadster via the Tesla Canada website. All you need is to make a (refundable) $6,000 deposit, plus a wire transfer payment of $58,000 within 10 days. Just imagine what the price will be like.
