2025 Nissan Kicks: Five Things to Know

Published on March 29, 2024 in Previews by Louis-Philippe Dubé

The new Nissan Kicks was unveiled last week, but The Car Guide was able to get up close and personal with this revamped crossover a few days ago at the New York Auto Show.

Here are five things you should know about the all-new 2025 Nissan Kicks.

It Gets a Completely Renewed Exterior Styling

Although its footprint remains unchanged when compared to the outgoing model, the Kicks is more imposing, thanks in part to its bolder silhouette. A square front with horizontal lighting features is now the first thing one notices when laying eyes on the Kicks. The generous chrome appliqués have been replaced by black surfaces. The V-shaped "V-Motion" grille has also bowed out.

It Gets a More Powerful Engine

Under the hood, the Nissan Kicks swapped its 1.6-litre 4-cylinder unit for the well-known Nissan 2.0-litre four-cylinder. The latter boasts 141 hp and 140 lb-ft of torque - a significant improvement on the 122 hp and 114 lb-ft of the outgoing model. The continuously variable transmission remains, but now adds an additional task to its list...

It’s Now available With All-Wheel Drive (AWD)

The Nissan Kicks was offered exclusively with front-wheel drive. Until now. The continuously variable transmission can now send power to all four wheels, thanks to the addition of optional intelligent all-wheel drive. Canadians who travel long distances in cold weather conditions can now add the 2025 Kicks to their shopping list.

It's (Much) Roomier

Thanks to its new exterior shell and redesigned interior, the Kicks now boasts a little more space for its passengers, and a lot more for the cargo that they bring along. Front passengers benefit from 43.1 mm more shoulder room, while rear passengers enjoy 38.1 mm more space in the same area. Knee room in the second row has been increased by 22.9 mm. Cargo volume rises from 716 litres to 849 litres in normal configuration, while 1,700 litres are available with the rear seat folded, compared with 1,504 litres in the outgoing model.

It Gets More Technology Inside

The Kicks’ interior gets a technological boost. All variants get a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, which is equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto suites.

A 10-speaker Bose Personal Plus audio system is available as an option, as is a panoramic sunroof. Nissan's 360 Safety Shield and Intelligent Cruise Control are now on the standard equipment list, but those who like semi-autonomous driving can opt for the SR variant with ProPILOT assistant. Finally, Nissan's "Zero Gravity" seats are now available for rear passengers for added comfort.

Pricing and availability of the 2025 Nissan Kicks will be announced at a later date.
