In addition to revealing the name of its upcoming subcompact crossover (it will be called ADX), Acura on Tuesday announced a mid-cycle update to its popular MDX three-row SUV.

On the outside, the front fascia sports a redesigned bumper, frameless grille with a more aggressive mesh pattern, as well as darkened headlights and taillights. Newly styled 20-inch wheels can be found on Tech and A-SPEC models, the latter also getting a blacked-out exterior treatment. What’s more, two paint colours are available for the first time including the all-new Canyon River Blue Metallic and Urban Grey Pearl, which debuted on the 2024 TLX.

Meanwhile, the performance-focused MDX Type S Ultra rides on a set of redesigned 21-inch wheels with machined face and Berlina Black pockets. It offers an Apex Blue Pearl finish for the body that wasn’t available before.

Say Hello to Google

With upgraded fender liners and additional door insulators, the 2024 Acura MDX reduces road noise inside the cabin by approximately 10 percent. The redesigned centre console is more convenient, offering USB-C ports inside and in the rear of the console box, increased storage and a more accessible wireless smartphone charger.

One of the main highlights, obviously, is the 12.3-inch touchscreen interface featuring Google built-in (Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Play apps) along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

A new addition for 2025, the Platinum Elite A-SPEC model boasts premium amenities such as 16-way power adjustable front seats, head-up display and a Surround View Camera system. It also features curvilinear-quilted leather and massaging front seats that were previously exclusive to the MDX Type S Ultra.

Music lovers will rave about the new 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system featuring 16 channels with Acoustic Lens Tweeters and four speakers in the headliner. For the ultimate audio experience, the MDX Type S Ultra with Advance Package exclusively features a new 31-speaker Bang & Olufsen system—Acura’s most powerful ever—with an 8.8-inch subwoofer, two amplifiers, 24 channels of power and 12 speakers mounted in the headliner.

By the way, don’t miss the redesigned front seats with Ultrasuede bolsters in the top-line MDX.

A More Watchful Eye

An enhanced AcuraWatch suite of safety and driver assistance technologies comes standard on the 2025 Acura MDX. Ditto for the new rear seatbelt reminder system. AcuraWatch uses a new front single-lens sensor camera with higher detection accuracy and a new grille-mounted millimeter-wave radar. Both the camera and radar have a wider field of view, improving collision-avoidance performance, the company insists.

Taking safety to another level, the MDX Type S Ultra with AcuraWatch 360 adds Front Cross Traffic Warning, Lane Change Collision Mitigation and Active Lane Change Assist.

The 2025 Acura MDX is set to arrive in dealerships in early June. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
