Ford Bronco Sport, Maverick Recall Affecting 55,000 Units in Canada
A week after Ford recalled nearly half a million Bronco Sport SUVs and Maverick pickups in the U.S., Transport Canada confirms that 55,656 units are affected on this side of the border.
More specifically, the recall is aimed at the 2021-2024 Bronco Sport as well as the 2022 Maverick.

The automaker needs to address an issue that may cause the engine to stall on some of those vehicles. Basically, the powertrain control module (PCM) and body control module (BCM) may not detect a change in the charge level of the 12V battery.
This problem could also cause the engine not to restart after a start-stop event. Furthermore, it appears that the hazard lights may stop working as a result. In any case, the risk of a crash is increased.
The remedy is nothing more than a software update to the PCM and BCM performed by a dealer. Ford will notify affected owners by mail later this spring.
The Bronco Sport has already been hit with over a dozen recalls since launching in 2021. One of them aims to fix fuel injectors that may crack on 1.5-litre EcoBoost engines, causing a fuel leak that could result in a fire.
