Lamborghini Huracán’s Hybrid Successor to Boast 789-Hp Twin-Turbo V8

This summer, Lamborghini will introduce the new high-performance electrified supercar that will replace the Huracán in the lineup starting next year. Codenamed “634,” the model is expected to be called Temerario according to the latest reports.

The Italian automaker today shared details about the powertrain, which will consist of a brand new twin-turbocharged V8, three electric motors, as well as the dual-clutch eight-speed transmission that debuted in the Revuelto hypercar.

Since the goal is to improve performance versus the outgoing Huracán, whose 5.2-litre V10 generates 602-631 horsepower depending on the model, the V8 of its successor will deliver up to 789 horsepower from 9,000-9,750 rpm, to be exact. Technically, it will be able to spin up to 10,000 rpm, a figure normally reserved for racing engines. Peak torque, meanwhile, will be 538 lb-ft between 4,000 rpm and 7,000 rpm.

The rear electric system designed and developed for the new V8 is positioned between the combustion engine and the dual-clutch gearbox and includes the inverter as well as the axial electric unit. The other two motors drive the front wheels. Total system output has yet to be confirmed, but Lamborghini engineers also worked to give the new powerplant a distinctive sound and character, especially at high revs.

No word about the battery, though. The Revuelto has a tiny 3.8kWh pack, while the Urus SE gets a much larger 25.9kWh unit. Electric range, naturally, remains a mystery at this point.

With this addition, the entire Lamborghini lineup will be electrified for 2025. The brand’s first fully electric vehicle is slated to arrive in 2027 using the Lanzador Concept as inspiration.
