Audi Reveals New RS5; Canada-Bound?

Audi’s RS badge is one of those things that just can’t help but get an enthusiast’s blood pumping. First seen on the all-conquering RS6 sedan, it denotes those special vehicles from Ingoldstadt that have a habit of dominating the road in a way no other vehicle can match. Some of the few vehicles capable of blurring the lines between what constitutes a sports car and what constitutes a family sedan, the RS-badge adorned vehicles are truly amazing. And sadly, most of them never make it to our shores.

But that doesn’t make them any more exciting, especially when there are rumours that one might make the Canadian conversion. Devoid of a top-echelon sports sedan since the departure of the RS4, Audi has released this: the RS5. The closest the brand has come to reproducing the infamous Ur-Quattro, the stylish coupe features familiar styling cues borrowed from that car, like the boxy, business-like fender flares. And under the hood? An also-familiar 4.2 litre V8 that now produces an astounding 450 horsepower and 317 foot-pounds of torque. Although paling in comparison to the current figures produced by AMG’s latest creations and Cadillac’s absolutely bonkers CTS-V Coupe, the RS5 boasts a serious all-wheel drive system to gain a handling advantage.

Although currently slated for the European market only, there have been rumblings of a North America-bound, RS-badged Audi... could this be it?
