Stunning SOLLEI Concept Hints at Future Custom Commissioned Cadillacs

Cadillac today unveiled a coach-built luxury electric convertible concept that aims to push the boundaries of future bespoke commissions, like an open-top vision of the Celestiq ultra luxury sedan.

Called SOLLEI, a contraction of the words sol (sun) and leisure, the car “celebrates Cadillac’s pedigree of elegant convertibles in a modern form by cultivating high luxury through design expressions and experiences,” Chief Designer Erin Crossley said.

The exterior design is defined by massive proportions—wheelbase, hood, wheels, doors, boat tail, etc.—and just enough creases not to make the SOLLEI look like a giant slab of butter melting under the sun. The door handles are replaced with discrete buttons for a cleaner profile.

The body is finished in Manila Cream, a colour originally used on Cadillacs in 1957 and 1958. This revived finish was meticulously curated and hand-painted by Cadillac craftsmen.

Meanwhile, the interior channels the brand’s “art of travel” design philosophy and is executed with the utmost attention to detail. Check out the natural, unstained wood veneers featuring open-pore finishes that can be felt by touch. Each piece is hand-cut and hand-laid using marquetry techniques. Light also plays a key role, notably in the form of 126-colour, multi-zone ambient lighting and a 55-inch, pillar-to-pillar digital interface—similar to the refreshed 2025 Escalade.

Sustainable materials were used for the cabin including mycelium (the renewable root structure of mushrooms) in the charging mats on the console and the door map pockets. Continuing the nature theme, bird-watching connoisseurs will find a custom brushed metal and leather-wrapped case housing 3D-printed acrylic bird calls, a leather-bound journal with hand-painted bird illustrations and a leather tool roll for pens and pencils.

Time to relax? Well, there’s a fully integrated beverage chiller with a power glass door and crystal glasses between the rear seats. By the way, the seats are wrapped in Fine Nappa leather featuring a pink iridescent pigment that creates a subtle colour-changing sunrise effect. How nice.

To be clear, Cadillac has no immediate plans to build the SOLLEI. It’s more of a design study tailored to reflect the unique passions and interests of its clientele, kind of like Rolls-Royce’s one-off creations.
