Ford Launches eBikes Inspired by Mustang, Bronco and We Want Them

Published on August 7, 2024 in Electric by Guillaume Rivard

Ford already has a Mustang-inspired electric crossover, so why not an electric bike? And while we’re at it, how about a two-wheel ride for Bronco enthusiasts? Teaming up with the cycling specialists at N+, the automaker is launching a pair of e-bikes that draw inspiration from two of its most iconic vehicles.

"We know the passion and thrill that gets unlocked when people get behind the wheel of a Bronco and Mustang,” Ford global brand licensing manager Tyler Hill said. “These new e-bikes will allow more people to experience the adventurous spirit of a Bronco and the exhilaration of a Mustang from the moment they grip the handlebars.”

The dual-suspension Bronco eBike comes with a motorcycle-style seat and is obviously aimed at riders who love to take on more challenging terrain, hence the 27.5x2.6-inch Pirelli Scorpion Enduro M hardwall tires. It features a 750W hub-mounted motor that provides 63 lb-ft of torque and electric assist up to 45 km/h. Range is estimated at nearly 100 km in normal operating conditions and with an average-weight rider.

Pricing starts at $4,500 USD, which translates to $6,176 CAD. For a few hundred more, customers can choose from 10 additional colour options beyond the standard Area 51 blue.

The Mustang eBike, meanwhile, emphasizes style and handling. In fact, just like the pony car, it will be available in a 60th Anniversary Edition model exclusively through Ford dealers.

The specs are mostly the same including power, electric assist and battery range. However, the tires are different, with Pirelli Angel GT semi-slick units maximizing speed and handling on paved roads and bike lanes.

This one starts at $4,000 USD, or about $5,490 CAD, and once again there’s a selection of 11 colour options highlighted by Carbonized Gray and Rapid Red.

Ordering for both models begins today at www.ford-bikes.com with deliveries expected later this year—unfortunately not in Canada. Let’s hope that Ford will fix that because we kind of dig these new e-bikes.
