New Infiniti SUVs Are Coming, Possibly Including a Hybrid

Major changes are in store at Infiniti for the 2025 model year. As previously reported, the full-size QX80 is completely redesigned for the first time in 14 years, the midsize QX60 is trading its trusted V6 for a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and the compact Q50 is not returning. But that won’t be enough to help the struggling Japanese luxury brand, which desperately needs new blood and a new identity.

The extremely unpopular QX50 and QX55 compact SUVs won’t be renewed when their current generation expires, according to a couple of reports circulating online at the moment. Their production is expected to end in August 2026, AutoForecast Solutions predicts, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Since the QX60 is Infiniti’s best-selling product, it only makes sense to build on its success. As rumour had it two years ago, the company will gear up to launch a new two-row midsize SUV by 2026 as a direct rival for the Lexus RX and BMW X5.

U.S. publication Automotive News reports that the model will be called QX65 and based on the same platform as the QX60. Naturally, it will also use the same four-cylinder engine. As for styling, look for a sportier silhouette and perhaps a version of the redesigned QX80’s front grille.

Now, what about electrification? Infiniti still doesn’t have anything to show for, and parent company Nissan has decided to pause development of the electric sedan and crossover that Infiniti was supposed to release in the near future. A product update is expected to be provided by the end of this year.

Nissan Americas Chairperson Jeremie Papin told Automotive News in May that he wants to “make sure that we launch the vehicles that the customer wants, at the time the customer wants it.” The same media outlet claims that Infiniti is exploring a small hybrid SUV that would be positioned as an entry-level product.
