2025 Jeep Gladiator Loses Manual Gearbox

Published on September 18, 2024 in News by Guillaume Rivard

The Jeep Gladiator is one of only two pickups to offer a manual transmission. The other, of course, is the Toyota Tacoma. However, things will change for the 2025 model year.

The company has decided to drop the six-speed manual transmission, leaving the 3.6-litre V6 (285 horsepower, 260 lb-ft of torque) with a standard eight-speed automatic transmission on every model—Sport S, Willys, Rubicon or Mojave.

Curiously, the Jeep Wrangler is doing the exact opposite, pairing the V6 exclusively with the manual gearbox for 2025.

The Gladiator continues to boast a maximum towing capacity of 7,700 lbs, which is unsurpassed among 4x4 midsize pickups.

What else is new for 2025? There are two new body colours including Phantom Blue and ’41, the latter inspired by Jeep’s military olive drab. Also, an available Active Cabin Ventilation feature makes it possible to pre-ventilate the interior via a mobile app before entering the vehicle.

As previously reported, a 4xe plug-in hybrid variant will join the lineup at some point during the 2025 calendar year. Much like the Wrangler 4xe, it’s expected to deliver 375 horsepower, 470 lb-ft of torque and around 35 km of EV range.

Knowing Jeep, we wouldn’t be surprised to see more announcements being made later into the 2025 model year. We’ll keep you posted if that’s the case.

Canadian pricing for the 2025 models has yet to be revealed, by the way. In the U.S., Jeep has lowered prices across the lineup, so hopefully we’ll see something similar up north.

Remember, the Gladiator received a significant mid-cycle update for 2024. The Car Guide put it to the test in Moab, Utah last spring, so check out our review in case you missed it.
