Popular Honda Models Again Hit by Major Recall, Fuel Pump to Blame
It wasn’t long ago that Honda announced a major recall to fix a potentially faulty steering system on some of its most popular vehicles. Are you ready for an encore?
This time, Honda says it will voluntarily recall approximately 720,000 vehicles in the U.S. and another 61,000 in Canada for a free inspection and, if necessary, replacement of the high-pressure fuel pump.

The automaker says the cracks may form inside the fuel pump due to a defective fuel pump core that may not have been manufactured properly. During vehicle operation, these cracks can grow, leading to possible fuel leaks, fuel smell while idling or driving, and the risk of fire, crash or injury.

The key model in that group is obviously the CR-V, Honda’s best-selling vehicle, but the Civic is notable, too. Honda has significantly refreshed and improved its compact sedan for 2025, bringing back the Civic Hybrid in a highly efficient yet powerful package. You can read our review right here.
Owners will be contacted by mail starting in December and asked to take their vehicle to a dealer for a free inspection. The dealer will replace the high-pressure fuel pump if it is found to be defective.
