U.S. Study Reveals Top 10 Vehicles With the Most DUIs in 2024
Driving under the influence can have deadly consequences. In fact, it’s the leading criminal cause of death and injury in Canada. Is there a connection to be made between impaired drivers and their vehicles? Obviously not, but we still found this new U.S. study from Insurify interesting.
Their data science team used a proprietary database of more than 97 million car insurance quotes to identify the 10 cars with the highest share of drivers with a DUI in 2024.

The list is probably not what you’d expect as it includes several family-friendly vehicles—five SUVs and a pair of vans—along with an EV. Drivers with these models are up to 11 times more likely to have a DUI on their driving record than average.

An analysis of car insurance quotes reveals that 6.4 out of 1,000 American drivers reported a DUI on their driving record in 2024.
As Insurify points out, many of the vehicles listed above are available with advanced driver assistance features such as automatic emergency braking, which could prevent some accidents by automatically braking if the driver doesn’t, but they’re no substitute for sober driving.
