Genesis Announces Magma Racing Team, Previews Future Endurance Racer
In an exciting debut in Dubai today, Genesis unveiled its bold new vision for the future of high-performance luxury. It will all start with Genesis Magma Racing, the nine-year-old company’s first major milestone in the motorsport arena, more specifically endurance racing.
Hyundai Motorsport GmbH, which recently secured titles in the World Rally Championship (WRC) and TCR World Tour, will support the Genesis motorsport operations in the prestigious World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2026, followed by participation in IMSA SportsCar Championship (IMSA) in 2027. This will put Genesis in marquee events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Daytona 24.

“This entry into motorsport is a natural evolution for Genesis,” said Luc Donckerwolke, Chief Creative Officer of Genesis. “As we look to push the boundaries of our brand, motorsport allows us to bring the spirit of hyperspeed—which drives how we create and innovate—in a way that aligns perfectly with our core values: Audacious, Progressive, and Distinctly Korean.”
Both the WEC and IMSA feature LMDh (Le Mans Daytona h) cars, and at the Dubai event Genesis also previewed its future racer, called GMR-001 Hypercar. The vehicle embodies the Korean brand’s “Athletic Elegance” design language in a high-performance, endurance-ready package.
The signature Two Lines headlights found on road-going Genesis models are given a new interpretation, seamlessly integrating into the hypercar’s flowing body. Designers wanted each panel to evoke movement, even when the vehicle is at rest, and naturally optimize aerodynamic efficiency at the same time. A concave rear section, framed by an active spoiler, adjusts to driving conditions, balancing drag reduction with stability for high-speed racing.
Drivers André Lotterer and Luis ‘Pipo’ Derani will lead the GMR-001 Hypercar’s technical development in 2025 and conduct simulator sessions to prepare for the debut LMDh season in 2026, where they will both serve as race drivers.

Genesis Magma Racing will consolidate its operations at a permanent strategic base at Circuit Paul Ricard in the south of France, leveraging its proximity to ORECA Motorsport and IDEC Sport to streamline collaboration.
