Nissan Releases NACS Adapter for Ariya Drivers

Published on December 4, 2024 in Electric by Guillaume Rivard

Nissan’s deal with Tesla from the summer of 2023 is getting real now. Nissan Ariya drivers will finally have access to Tesla’s Supercharger network beginning December 10 thanks to an NACS (North American Charging Standard) adapter provided by Nissan.

There is a price to pay, naturally—$309.99 to be exact, which is exactly what General Motors has been charging for its own NACS adapter since September. It can be ordered through a Nissan dealer starting today and soon online at Nissan.ca

With this addition, Ariya drivers will be able to plug into more than 17,800 Superchargers across North America. In 2025, Nissan will begin fitting EVs for the Canadian and U.S. markets with an NACS port, making the adapter unnecessary.

The Tesla Superchargers expand the NISSAN ENERGY Charge Network (NECN), which will now offer more than 100,000 public chargers in the U.S. and 25,000 in Canada.

NECN also includes access to ChargeHub, Shell Recharge, FLO, Chargepoint, Circuit Electrique, BC Hydro and IVY chargers in Canada. In the U.S., access includes Electrify America, Shell Recharge, ChargePoint and EVgo chargers.

Ariya owners can search real-time charging station availability, monitor charging status and pay for charging all through the MyNISSAN app (once a default payment method has been saved). That last functionality is not currently available to Nissan LEAF owners.

Since June 2023, customers who purchase or lease a new Ariya or LEAF along with the Nissan EV Care protection package receive $150 worth of charging credits at FLO chargers. FLO’s network includes AC Level 2 chargers and DC fast chargers located coast-to-coast across Canada and the U.S. Additionally, they can purchase a FLO Home charger at Nissan dealerships nationwide.

Back to the Ariya, the 2025 model is on sale now with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) starting at $49,998. Qualifying Canadian residents can receive up to $5,000 in federal EV rebates and may be eligible for additional provincial government EV rebates.
