Jeep Shows All-Electric 2026 Recon Ahead of Debut

Published on February 17, 2025 in Electric by Guillaume Rivard

The official debut of the all-new Jeep Recon is fast approaching. In fact, the company couldn’t wait to show its upcoming EV—set to join the Wagoneer S in late 2025 as a 2026 model—and launched a dedicated page on its U.S. and Canadian websites.

To be clear, the pictures show a pre-production Recon, but the final product is expected to be nearly identical save for a few minor details.

Jeep is talking about a “reimagined design and refined interior” along with “adaptable cargo space, practical capability and intuitive entertainment features.” Unlike the larger Wagoneer S, which is more about street performance, the Recon’s dimensions and aspirations are similar to those of the iconic Wrangler.

On that note, Jeep has confirmed its signature “Trail Rated” badge will be found on the rugged Moab model and off‑road packages. Other highlights include all-terrain tires, removable doors and chunky, modular bumpers with integrated tow hooks. Also, look for under-body protection and Jeep’s Selec-Terrain four-wheel drive system complete with e-locker axle technology.

Initially announced in September 2022, then shown in concept form in March 2023, the Recon will launch with a fully electric powertrain, presumably using the same 100.5kWh battery as the Wagoneer S (the two ride on Stellantis’ STLA Large architecture). However, a gas-powered or hybrid variant cannot be ruled out depending on consumer demand in North America, as hinted by former Jeep boss Antonio Filosa last year.

The Recon webpage doesn’t show any part of the interior, but spy shots of a camouflaged prototype that were posted on the Jeep Recon Forum reveal some electric blue accents, an octagon-shaped steering wheel in front of the driver, a Wrangler-like grab bar on the passenger side, as well as a large touchscreen and a terrain mode switch in the middle.
