Kia’s New PV5 Electric Van Wants to Create a Buzz, Too

Published on February 20, 2025 in Electric by Guillaume Rivard

Remember the PV5 electric van concept that Kia introduced at CES 2024 in Las Vegas and recently displayed in more adventurous attire at the Montreal Auto Show? It’s now showing up in nearly identical production form.

The Kia PV5 will be sold in global markets—although it’s not immediately clear whether North America will be one of them—with a selection of passenger and cargo variants, similar to the Volkswagen ID. Buzz.

Unlike its German rival, the PV5 boasts a taller and boxier profile as well as a flatter and admittedly less friendly-looking face. The charging port door is located right in the middle of the front fascia, while slim, vertically arranged headlights are positioned at the far corners.

The windshield and side windows are extra-large in order to maximize visibility. Obviously, on the cargo variant, solid panels replace the rear glass and twin side-opening rear doors replace the single liftgate, providing easy access for loading and unloading.

Kia says it will offer the PV5 in several configurations to meet a wide range of usage needs. The passenger and cargo models will be joined by further additions to the range, including specialized conversion options.

There are no pictures of the interior for now. As for specs, all we can tell you is that the PV5 is based on Kia’s Electric Complete Chassis Platform Module (e-CCPM) and is expected to feature single-motor and dual-motor powertrain options along with vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-grid capabilities.

A lot more information will be shared next week at the 2025 Kia EV Day in Tarragona, Spain, where the company will also host the official debut of the recently shown EV4 sedan plus the EV2 Concept. We’ll keep you posted.
