Subaru Announces Pricing for 2025 Forester Hybrid, Unveils New BRZ Edition
The all-new 2025 Subaru Forester e-BOXER Hybrid, which officially made its debut at the Chicago Auto Show last month, will arrive in dealerships this spring as the electrified alternative many have been waiting for, even though Subaru’s compact SUV already ranks among the most fuel-efficient vehicles in its class.
We also now know how much it costs: $50,843 including freight, PDI and other fees. Roughly speaking, this represents an extra $3,000 over the top-of-the-range Premier model without the hybrid system.

Alas, Subaru doesn't offer cheaper options—unlike the hybrid variants of the Ford Escape, Hyundai Tuscon, Kia Sportage, Toyota RAV4 and Mazda CX-50. Simply put, in order to save precious dollars at the gas pump with the Forester, customers will have to opt for a fully loaded model.
Looking at all the competitors in the segment, only the Honda CR-V Hybrid costs more (just barely) at $51,092 before tax. And it's possible to order one that's even more expensive than that.
What's also important to know is that the 194-horsepower Forester e-BOXER Hybrid is less potent than the aforementioned rivals and only slightly more muscular than other Foresters (180 horsepower). Not only that, but its combined fuel consumption rating of 6.9 L/100 km, calculated by Natural Resources Canada, is tad worse.
Ultimately, Subaru's offering is likely to appeal only to its loyal customers and Forester enthusiasts, who will appreciate the brand’s acclaimed symmetrical all-wheel drive system with X-MODE, a generous ground clearance of 220 mm and the latest version of the EyeSight driver assistance system.
Subaru BRZ Gets Another Special Edition
In a separate announcement this week, Subaru unveiled the new 2025 BRZ Murasaki Edition, which is based on the tS model and, as the Japanese name implies, exclusively sports a Galaxy Purple Pearl exterior paint.
Under the hood and the STI-branded flexible V-brace, the 2.4-litre engine (228 horsepower) is mated to the six-speed manual transmission. The six-speed autobox is not available here. Meanwhile, Brembo high-performance brakes with gold-painted calipers and Hitachi-Astemo front dampers improve stopping power and driving dynamics.
Inside, the Murasaki Edition receives grey accents on the black leather with Ultrasuede seats and door panels along with grey accent stitching throughout the cabin. A unique badge is also featured prominently in front of the shifter.
Only 100 units of the 2025 Subaru BRZ Murasaki Edition will be sold in Canada. The base price of $41,770 (including fees) exceeds that of the BRZ tS by $2,300.
