New U.S. Study Reveals Most and Least Driven Cars and Trucks

The most pleasant vehicles to drive are not necessarily those that rack up the most mileage. The reverse is also true.

American automotive research firm iSeeCars demonstrates this in its new study of cars and trucks with the lowest and highest average annual mileage. It is based on data from over one million three-year-old vehicles sold from November 2024 to April 2025 in the U.S., excluding exotic brands such as Ferrari and Lamborghini.

Without further ado, here are the top 10 least driven vehicles according to iSeeCars:

The reason for the MX-5's low usage is that it mainly serves as a weekend, summer or fair-weather toy, not as a primary vehicle. Other fun little cars such as MINIs are also on the list, but again, their lack of everyday practicality doesn't encourage long trips.

The same applies to electric vehicles with a really short range, like the MINI Cooper SE and Mazda MX-30, or those that are more status symbols, as evidenced by the GMC Hummer EV. The case of the Ford Mustang and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is a little more surprising, however.

Now, let’s take a look at the top 10 most driven vehicles according to iSeeCars:

It's not often that Chrysler tops the charts, at least for the good reasons, but we must admit that its minivans are practical for long trips with the family or golf partners. They're also perfect for the daily grind when you need a lot of space.

Speaking of space, a number of full-size SUVs are also among the top 10 most driven vehicles annually despite their high fuel consumption. Keep in mind that the study is based on the U.S. market.

By the way, iSeeCars has found that hybrid vehicles have the highest average annual mileage of all powertrain types, at 20,799 km. They are followed by gas-only models (19,883 km), plug-in hybrids (18,691 km) and EVs (17,197 km).
