Land Rover Discovery Adds Two Special Editions, One is the Most Luxurious Ever

Published on May 22, 2025 in News by Guillaume Rivard

It's been a while since we've talked about the Land Rover Discovery. That’s because the Defender and the larger members of the Range Rover lineup are seemingly grabbing all the attention. But now there's something new for the venerable seven-seat British SUV, starting with a pair of special editions.

The first one is called Gemini and has nothing to do with Google’s AI. Rather, it refers to the codename given to the diesel engine that powered the original Discovery from 1989. This model is available in six exterior colours, including Sedona Red which is a first for the Discovery, complete with a Narvik Gloss Black roof. Gloss black detailing extends to the lower body cladding and front wing vents and is complemented by an Atlas Gloss grille surround and Discovery script.

A Gemini‑specific graphic is found on the B‑pillar badges, treadplates and interior finishers, while the new 21‑inch split‑seven‑spoke wheels are finished in Diamond Turned Silver. Inside, extra comfort and convenience features include a cooler compartment between the front seats, motion-activated power liftgate and four‑zone climate control. All-inclusive pricing starts at $91,950.

The Tempest edition also joining the lineup is hailed as the most luxurious and most comfortable Discovery ever produced. It takes its name from the secret development launch program for the second‑generation Discovery launched in 1998—one of the brand’s most recognizable models. The three available body colours come with a Matte Protective Film for the first time ever on a Discovery, plus a standard Petra Copper Gloss or optional Narvik Gloss Black roof finish.

This same Petra Copper Gloss finish also applies to exterior details including the wing vent, Discovery script and lower bumper inserts, not to mention the two-tone 22-inch wheels. The Tempest is further identified by unique badging for the B‑pillars, treadplates, puddle lamps and interior finishers, while the cabin is enhanced with Shadow Aluminum detailing and extended Ebony Windsor leather upholstery. Pricing starts at $99,950.

Furthermore, Land Rover is offering new 21- and 22-inch wheel options, including with the entry-level Dynamic SE model at $84,850. The latter remains the only one to feature a four-cylinder engine (296 hp) as standard, although a six-cylinder engine with mild hybrid technology (355 hp) is optional. Unsurprisingly, the Gemini and Tempest editions rely exclusively on the larger engine, which increases maximum towing capacity from 6,000 to 8,200 lbs.
