Kia Soul Bites the Dust Two Years After EV Variant
After eliminating the battery-powered Soul EV at the end of the 2023 model year, Kia is now abandoning the conventional Soul.
The boxy little crossover has disappeared not only from the Kia Canada website, but also from several dealerships’ websites. It is no longer available to order, and the remaining units will be sold out in the coming months.

This is the end of the road for the Soul after 16 years and three generations, the last of which made its debut for 2020. Canadian sales plummeted by 35.5 percent in 2024 to 1,919 units. In the first quarter of 2025, however, the 591 units sold represented an increase of 6 percent. Still, that's a far cry from the figures achieved by the competition, notably the Chevrolet Trax, Nissan Kicks Play and Hyundai Venue.
The Soul was a practical and spacious hatchback with a trunk capacity of 663 litres that expands to 1,758 litres with the rear seats folded. This, along with good value, is one of the main reasons why The Car Guide picked the Soul as the best buy in the urban crossover segment in 2025.
Canadian shoppers thus have one less option when it comes to buying an affordable SUV or crossover. Those sticking with Kia will have to move up to the Seltos (starting at $28,417, including fees) or the hybrid-powered Niro ($33,512).
Otherwise, with the Soul gone, the brand's cheapest vehicle is now the K4 sedan ($26,567). The K4 Hatchback variant will go on sale towards the end of 2025 (as a 2026 model), and prices have yet to be confirmed.
