The average price of a used vehicle in Canada right now is around $33,000, according to the latest analyses by AutoTrader, CarGurus and Clutch. Following post-pandemic drops, the market appears to be trending up again. Canadian countertariffs on new vehicles imported from the U.S. are bound to amplify the situation.
With that in mind, it's important for shoppers to expand their search to find the best prices on the used models they're looking for. This means looking beyond a particular geographical area.

You see, used vehicles don’t cost the same depending on where they are sold in the country. Want proof? Compare The Market, a website specializing in car insurance and financial products, has just published a study showing the major cities where you can find some of the most popular models for less. The study looks at several regions around the globe, including Canada.
As you can see, Toronto has the cheapest average price for a Ford F-150 at $29,462, plus the third-cheapest costs for a Toyota RAV4 and Honda Civic ($29,057 and $19,296 respectively).
Montreal has the cheapest costs not only for the RAV4 ($27,969), but also for the Honda CR-V ($19,571).
The used Civics at the lowest prices can be found in Quebec City ($18,445), along with the second-cheapest F-150s and CR-Vs ($30,460 and $20,027, respectively).
Conversely, Winnipeg and Edmonton have the most expensive costs for all four vehicles listed above, followed by Vancouver. Keep in mind that Compare The Market failed to include cities from the Atlantics, such as Halifax and Moncton, in its study.
