2026 Mazda CX-5 to Debut Just Days From Now

The Mazda CX-5 will be all-new for 2026, so to speak, and we won’t have to wait much longer to see it. The company has scheduled its official unveiling for July 10.

“The CX-5 appeals to customers who need a vehicle that is just as capable tackling everyday errands as it is tackling the weekend excursions and getaways,” Mazda said in a press release. “With a confidence-inspiring drive, engaging design and functionality to match, the all-new 2026 CX-5 is intended for both life-long customers and those new to Mazda.”

Three shadowy pictures released by Mazda reveal various parts of the third-generation compact SUV.

They appear to match the full image that has leaked online in recent days. Unsurprisingly, the evolution of the Kodo design is modest. A revised grille, headlights and taillights contribute to a more upscale appearance.

By saying the new CX-5 is crafted to fit urban and active lifestyles seamlessly, Mazda seems to be telling us that no off-road oriented model will join the lineup. Such a role is arguably filled by the CX-50 Meridian but, as we know, imports of this model into Canada ceased in May due to counter-tariffs on American-made vehicles. There’s no word on when or if it will return.

No technical details have yet been confirmed. As a reminder, the Japanese automaker is working on an all-new gasoline engine called SKYACTIV-Z which, unlike the SKYACTIV-X that came before, will be offered in North America. Combined with Mazda's new in-house hybrid system (different from the Toyota-sourced powertrain in the CX-50 Hybrid), it’s expected to debut in the next-generation CX-5 sometime in 2027.

Join us on the morning of July 10 to see and learn all about the new 2026 Mazda CX-5.
