Audi to Unveil All-New Electric Sports Car in September
Since the R8 and TT were discontinued after the 2023 model year, Audi no longer has a true sports car in its lineup. Sure, the fully electric RS e-tron GT performance is the most powerful production car ever made by the four-ring brand, but it's still just a sedan.
A battery-powered replacement for the R8 has fuelled rumours for quite some time, but it now seems like the TT will be the one getting this treatment.

While confirming to German newspaper Bild the debut of a new electric sports car ahead of the upcoming IAA show in Munich (September 8-14), Audi CEO Gernot Döllner called it the "TT Moment 2.0," suggesting the model will be as important and emotional as the small coupe that was originally launched in the late 1990s.
The car will be unveiled as a concept, but it’s expected to resemble a production vehicle because Audi no longer wants to waste time and resources on simple design studies or hyper-futuristic vehicles. Remember, the company is going through difficult times and plans to cut 7,500 jobs in Germany by 2029.
However, we will have to be patient after that: this new electric TT (if the name remains) will not hit the market for another two years.
No further details were provided beyond the fact that the performance and thrills will put the car somewhere between the late TT and R8, according to Döllner. Aesthetically, it would make sense for Audi to introduce brand new design cues rather than borrowing from its latest models, given that sales are still a long way off.
In the technical department, Audi will likely share its platform and components with the next-generation, all-electric Porsche 718s, whose development is dragging on, but of course with specific tuning and power output to differentiate the products of each brand.
