Ram’s New Midsize Pickup to Launch in 2027, Stellantis Boss Says
Upcoming product announcements from Stellantis are often best taken with a grain of salt, as the automaker has a habit of running into delays and other changes of plans. However, when it comes to one of the most anticipated vehicles in a long time, we need to talk about it.
Ram’s new midsize pickup for the North American market, first announced by union officials from the UAW in 2023 and then hinted at by the company itself several times over the past two years, will finally arrive in 2027.

That’s what Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa said at a conference held last Thursday, according to reports from the Mopar Insiders website.
Filosa told the crowd he recently saw sketches, designs and even a clay model of the future pickup, heir to the late Ram Dakota, at the automaker’s design centre in Detroit. "And it's beautiful," he added, inviting journalists and investors to come see it for themselves, too—"without cellphones or cameras," of course.
The new vehicle will not only fill a gap in Ram's lineup, but it will also attract buyers who find the full-size Ram 1500 too expensive, especially since the discontinuation of the Ram 1500 Classic.
What else do we know at this stage? Well, the truck will be built on a body-on-frame chassis like its future rivals including the Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado and Toyota Tacoma, not a unibody structure similar to the Honda Ridgeline’s. Production will take place at the Toledo, Ohio factory that builds the Jeep Gladiator.
One last thing: the new Ram Dakota that has been announced for the South American market and is set to be manufactured in Argentina starting later this year has very little connection with the vehicle we will have here, which will be larger and more capable.
