70,000 Toyota, Lexus Vehicles Recalled in Canada, Screens Can Go Blank
Several Toyota and Lexus models from recent years are facing a safety recall due to a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that may be blank at startup.
The recall affects around 591,000 units in the U.S. and another 70,480 in Canada including some Toyota Venza, Crown, Crown Signia, RAV4, GR Corolla, Camry, Highlander, Grand Highlander and Tacoma vehicles as well as some Lexus RX, TX and LS vehicles.

The manufacturer has not specified the cause of the problem, but obviously, a dashboard screen that goes blank would prevent the driver from seeing important vehicle information and possibly certain malfunction indicators, too. Continuing to drive could increase the risk of an accident.
Is it just a one-time bug? Apparently not. Based on some research we did online, turning the engine off and then on again doesn't seem to fix the problem.
Toyota and Lexus dealers will inspect and update the digital instrument cluster programming. However, replacing the unit altogether may be necessary, a job that would take a few hours.
Affected owners will receive a recall notice by mail by mid-November. In the meantime, you can check if your vehicle is on the list by visiting Toyota.ca/recall or Lexus.ca/recall and entering your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
