Hyundai Recalls Nearly All Palisades Due to Seatbelts That May Unlatch
The Hyundai Palisade, a benchmark in the three-row midsize SUV segment since launching six years ago, has just been hit by a tenth recall, this one involving possibly defective seatbelts.
Essentially, nearly all units sold to date are affected by the recall, meaning just over 568,000 in the U.S. We’re talking about 2020 to 2025 Palisades that were manufactured between April 10, 2019 and June 16, 2025. The number in Canada amounts to 43,990.

Documents posted by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show that an estimated 1 percent of the recall population is affected by the defect. More specifically, due to components that were built out of specification by a supplier, the seatbelt buckles in the driver, passenger and second-row outboard seats may not latch correctly, thus increasing the risk of injury or death in a crash.
Occupants may be alerted through a lighter-than-normal "click" sound when fastening their seatbelt, according to the automaker. Of course, the driver would immediately know when a seatbelt becomes unlatched through visual and auditory warnings.
Crucially, at least for Canadian Palisade owners, the problem is more likely to occur when the ambient temperature is colder.
Hyundai dealers will inspect the recalled vehicles and, if necessary, replace the defective seatbelt buckles, free of charge. In the meantime, the automaker claims that the Palisade remains safe to drive, but recommends that drivers and passengers fasten their seatbelts with a quick and direct motion and check that they are securely buckled by pulling on the seatbelt.
Earlier this year, the 2025 Palisade was recalled due to a fire hazard. In some cases, the electric oil pump may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, water could enter the pump controller and cause a short circuit. Fortunately, only 117 units are affected in Canada.
