Volkswagen Releases NACS Adapter for Tesla Superchargers
Starting November 18, Volkswagen ID.4 and ID. Buzz drivers will finally have access to some 25,000 Tesla Superchargers in Canada and the U.S.
Since an NACS (North American Charging System) charging port is not directly built into the design of these vehicles, a Volkswagen-approved NACS adapter will be necessary.

As Volkswagen explains, ID. Buzz customers can contact their selling dealer to receive their adapter for free (as it was meant to be included in the purchase). Meanwhile, ID.4 owners will be able to purchase adapters through dealers or online from the Volkswagen Canada Virtual Parts Counter starting on November 18. The price is set at $304.

To be clear, the NACS adapter can only be used with compatible DC fast charging stations, not with level 1 or 2 AC charging stations including Tesla Wall Connectors.
Owners of certain 2024 and 2025 ID.4 and ID. Buzz vehicles will receive information about a recommended software update to support optimal charging behavior. Incidentally, it’s best to use the Tesla app when searching for available Superchargers in order to get the most accurate information. Payment also goes through the Tesla app.

On a related note, let’s not forget that Volkswagen already offers ID. Buzz customers up to 1,400 kWh of complimentary fast charging for four years from the date of purchase or lease, but only at Electrify Canada charging stations.
What’s more, the automaker recently came up with a massive $21,000 discount on all ID. Buzz models due to the large number of units that are slow to leave dealer lots. As a result, you can now buy or lease one for under $60,000 including fees.
