330,000 Hyundai, Genesis Vehicles in Canada Might Need a New Horn
Not all safety recalls are created equal. Some aim to fix arguably trivial problems. The reason we've decided to tell you about this one is that more than 330,000 Hyundai and Genesis vehicles in Canada are affected. The guilty part? The horn.
You see, it appears that water could enter the horn assembly and cause the electrical contacts to corrode. As a result, the horn may not work properly or at all, preventing the driver from warning other road users.

The recalled models include the 2021-2025 Hyundai Elantra, 2023-2025 IONIQ 6, 2018-2023 Kona (including some Kona Electric units), 2021-2023 Santa Fe and 2020-2025 Venue, as well as the 2021-2025 Genesis GV80. All use the same horn assembly.

The automaker recommends that owners test the horn regularly and visit a dealership if it is not working properly. An extended 10-year or 200,000 km warranty will be provided to replace the horn free of charge if it fails.
Just days ago, Hyundai issued another recall, this time for the Sonata sedan, because the fuel tank could melt and leak. Fortunately, only about 5,600 units from the 2020-2023 model years (all equipped with the turbocharged 1.6-litre engine) may have this problem. The 2021-2024 Kia K5 is also included in the same recall.
