Toyota’s New Supercar to Debut in a Week
The spiritual successor to the Toyota 2000GT and Lexus LFA will soon be unveiled at a special event in Japan, which The Car Guide will be attending. This is the production version of the Toyota GR GT3 race car concept that debuted at Tokyo Auto Salon in early 2022.
Camouflaged prototypes have been spotted undergoing testing and much speculation has floated around since then, but everything will finally be clear on December 5.

In the meantime, a television spot that aired in Japan—also featuring the two aforementioned icons—gives us a very brief glimpse of this new chapter of performance about to be written by Toyota, more specifically its Gazoo Racing (GR) division:
The car's license plate reads "GR GT," and it's expected that the name will remain GR GT3. The design should also stay fairly true to the concept, minus the gigantic rear wing on the road-going version.
The hood vents and high-mounted side intakes are reminiscent of those on the Lexus LFA. The LED headlights, on the other hand, look more like those on the small GR86 coupe. Overall, the car has a long and very low stance.
The decidedly sporty interior was first teased in June during the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the U.K. Red leather is the dominant material, complemented by aluminum and Alcantara trim. A brand new centre console sits between the carbon fibre race buckets, which firmly envelop the occupants and position them close to the ground.
As for motivation, Toyota has confirmed that a new, electrified twin-turbo V8 will be used. The sound will obviously differ from that of the LFA's naturally aspirated V10, but output should be significantly higher—possibly in the 700-hp or even 800-hp range. Can you imagine?
